In a Different Light - The Book
It has long been a dream of mine to write a book that showcases my images. To me, that is the ultimate goal of a photographer - to be published. In this case, there was no being 'discovered' or having publishers knocking down my door, begging to print and release my book. In this day and age of the internet, ebooks and social networking sites, real books seem to have taken a backseat to all things electronic.
Many authors, photographers and others who have a story to tell, do so by embracing the technology of this new world we live in. However, there is something real, yes tangible, about a book in its conventional form. So the undiscovered lot of us who wish to have real books published, turn to companies that empower us to do so. I was lucky to find one such company in Winnipeg - Art Bookbindery. Through them, I was able to bring my dream to fruition.
Dreams they say, do come true. That is only partly the truth. What no one tells us is that to make dreams a reality requires a lot of perseverance and hard work on the part of the individual. Nothing worthwhile in life comes easily, but the fruits of hard labour are very sweet. If nothing else, these two projects, my exhibition and book, have taught me that.
